The Turkic Republics that gained their independence with the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the possible Turkic Union to be established have been frequently mentioned. In this study, the question of why the Turkic Union is not established will be tried to be answered. The thesis of this study is that the failure to establish alphabet and language unity among Turkic communities, the efforts of states to strengthen their nation-states, and other regional powers and integrations are obstacles to the Turkic Union. In order to prove this thesis, I will first focus on the world system, examine integration phases in light of globalization and regionalization trends, and evaluate the current position of the Turkic Union. The institutional status of the Turkish Union is manifested within the Organization of Turkish States. The current situation of the Turkic Union fits regionalism which is defined as a process primarily led by states for the establishment and maintenance of formal regional institutions and organizations among at least three states, rather than regionalization, which refers to the processes of increasing economic, political, social or cultural interaction between geographically or culturally adjacent states and societies.
