Abstract: In the article, the ethnographic phraseology existing in the Azerbaijani and English languages is analyzed in a comparative way. On the other hand, the concept of "vertical context" is explained, and "vertical contexts" of various ethnographic phraseological combinations are studied on the basis of a wide range of linguistic material, examples, and examples. What exactly does the concept of phraseology include, the impact that phraseology has on the language in one way or another, the lexical-semantic features of phraseology with an ethnographic component existing in our native language and in English, the role of the "vertical context" factor in the formation of these types of phraseological units. is being investigated. A comparative analysis of this type of phraseology in our language and in English helps to reveal the similarities and differences between the two nations. Thus, phraseology, especially ethnographic phraseology, is one of the important means of studying the culture, traditions and development of a certain people.
