One of the important components of spiritual culture is music. One of the main points in music is the order of making musical instruments. Various materials are used in making musical instruments. One of them and the most important is wood. In particular, the use of wood was preferred in the production of stringed musical instruments (saz, kamancha, tar, tanbur, etc.). From ancient times until today, musical instruments made of wood are still used. One of those musical instruments is saz. As we know, the history of saz goes back to ancient times. Masters who make saz are called sazband. Sazband uses mulberry and walnut trees to make saz. Saz has always occupied an important place in the western region of Azerbaijan. The throat part of the saz is made of walnut wood. The upper part of the bowl is covered with thin pieces of wood. The pelvis is connected with the throat part. Small holes are made in its top boards for better sound. The mizrab (tazanah) used to play the saz is made from the bark of a cherry tree.
