The aim of this study was to examine the opinions of the pedagogical formation students about instructional technologies with the word association test. The study was carried out according to the phenomenology study design, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group consisted of 44 students enrolled in instructional technologies courses in the pedagogical formation training certificate program at an education faculty in Turkey. Data were collected through the word association test. The data were analyzed using the content analysis method. The data was classified according to themes, categories, and codes. Study results showed that the students produced 99 words (codes) related to the concept of instructional technologies. The most repeated words were computer; information and communication technologies (ICT), informatics; Internet; smart board; innovation; facilitating learning; FATİH project; James Finn; learning; technology. These codes were grouped under 10 themes: Other name; time; structure; education; computer technologies; benefits; examples; skills; relevant institutions; using palces. There were 19 categories in these themes: Other name; historical process; time term; the structure of instructional technologies; education; teaching; program; learning; school; computer; Internet; technology; artificial intelligence; individual and general benefits; physical and digital samples; Web 2.0 tool examples; skills; company name; media. Also, the students wrote 44 words related to instructional technologies.
