The assessment and evaluation approach plays an important role in monitoring students' progress, setting learning goals, organizing educational policies and creating effective educational environments. This is because the results of assessment and evaluation provide the most effective feedback to teachers, students and parents about the effectiveness of the work carried out in the field of education and training. Language courses are courses for the development of basic language skills. In this context, not only grammar but also reading, writing, speaking and listening skills should be included in the assessment and evaluation process. Revealing the similarities and differences in the assessment and evaluation approaches of different languages can be a guide for new arrangements to be made in this regard. In line with this fact, the present study was conducted to compare the assessment and evaluation approaches applied in Turkish and Azerbaijani Turkish lessons. In this context, the documents containing information about the assessment and evaluation approaches that were effective in different periods in the education system of both languages were scanned. According to the findings of the study, the assessment and evaluation approach in both languages has focused on practical exams to assess basic language skills in recent years. These exams aim to assess students' language skills in a way that is appropriate for real-life situations. According to the findings obtained in the research, suggestions for the creation of an effective learning environment were presented.
