Kırgız Türkçesi ve Türkiye Türkçesinin İkincil Uzunluklar Açısından Karşılaştırılması

Long vowels can be divided into two main categories, depending on their qualities: primary long vowels and secondary long vowels. Principal or primary long vowels are vowels that are long from the beginning of a language and are based on the history of the language. On the other hand, secondary long vowels are vowels that appear as a result of sound changes, falling or melting in the word. Such vowels may form during the evolution of the language or as a result of phonetic changes in the language. In this research, secondary vowel lengths between Kyrgyz Turkish and Türkiye Turkish dialects will be compared. The main purpose of the research is to determine the trends in the formation of secondary vowel length in the Turkish language through examples of Kyrgyz and Turkey Turkish. In the analyses, it was determined that the emergence of long vowels in both dialects was the result of the disappearance of similar sounds or sound groups. However, it has been observed that both dialects show different tendencies in the formation of these long vowels. Turkmen, Yakut and Halachic, among the contemporary Turkish dialects, have generally preserved their vowel lengths in Proto-Turkish in a systematic way. These dialects continued to maintain their vowel lengths in harmony with the basic features of Proto-Turkish. However, in other Turkish dialects, these primary vowel lengths appear in more scattered and unsystematic ways. This can be considered as an indicator of language evolution and change among Turkish dialects.
