İsa Hüseynov (Muğanna), known by the pseudonym Muğanna and who started his literary career by writing poetry, is notable for his sincere and lyrical style in his works in the genres of short stories and novels. He made significant contributions to the transformation of Azerbaijani literature in the 1960s. He transcended the molds of socialist realism and touched upon themes such as village life, moral and spiritual values. His focus on human psychology in his works is a rare feature of his period. By reflecting the realities and history of the society, he conveyed to his readers the inner world of the Azerbaijani people and the difficulties they experienced. In the first period of his literary career, he wrote realistic and psychological works; in the second period, he wrote works under the influence of mystical and philosophical thoughts. Especially his novel “Ideal” is among the important works of Azerbaijani literature. In this study, İsa Hüseynov (Muğanna)’s story “Ana Dil Öten Yerde” is analyzed in terms of communication strategies. A detailed analysis of the story’s characters, settings and dialogues is presented, while the communication strategies between the characters and the impact of these strategies on social status are analyzed. The study reveals the political and social context of the story, focusing on how the narrative protagonists and their relationships were shaped by the regime of the time. This analysis, together with the text of the literary work, contributes to our understanding of the socio-political atmosphere of the period.
