The Caucasian isthmus, located between two seas, has to play a peaceful role in international relations due to its geographical location. In this context, XX. It is expected that France will not remain insensitive to the demands for freedom that emerged in the Caucasus at the beginning of the century and will support the Caucasian peoples. However, in the Franco-Russian alliance, relations are closely related to economic and political interests. In this context, the Caucasus issue has been overshadowed by the special efforts of Russia, which provides financial contributions to the French press on various occasions. With such an influence of Russian official circles on the French press, it was not possible to publicize the demands of the peoples of the Caucasus for independence. In 1926, under the direction of the Caucasus Independence Committee, the monthly magazine Prométhée, edited by the Georgian national democratic leader Gvazava, was published in French in Paris for twelve years with the proposal of an independent confederated state in the Caucasus. Many intellectuals, including Turks, wrote articles stating that the Caucasus had never been Slavic and was in fact part of the Mediterranean civilization. In this paper, the view of Prométhée, which was published as the national organ of the Caucasian peoples, Ukraine and Turkestan, on the Caucasus issue is analyzed within the framework of the French-Georgian alliance.
