Terörizmle Mücadelede Kapsamında Azerbaycan'ın Karabağ’daki Antiterör Operasyonu

After the Second Karabakh War, a new equation and dynamic emerged in the Caucasus. Particularly, the end of the occupation process in Karabakh, the signing of the ceasefire agreement between Baku and Yerevan, and the holding of various meetings have strengthened the expectations for the establishment of regional peace. However, ethnic-separatist groups, who did not accept Azerbaijan’s victory and Karabakh’s return to Azerbaijani sovereignty, continued to illegally exist in Karabakh and carry out terrorist attacks. Against this, Azerbaijan launched an antiterror operation in Karabakh in order to eliminate the terrorist threat within its borders. However, this operation is a phase of a longer-term counterterrorism. For this reason, Azerbaijan’s counterterrorism policy is gaining importance. Within the scope of this study, the focus will be on the terrorist threat in Karabakh, Azerbaijan’s counterterrorism policy, the antiterror operation in Karabakh and the results of the operation. In addition, the tools to counterterrorism will be examined and it will be determined which tools Azerbaijan uses.
